Dec 17, 2012. Reengineering the face of an iron to make it behave with the same flexibility idea seen in drivers has been a big story with some of the introductions we've already seen this fall, and Callaway is the next to embrace this idea of bringing distance to the iron game. The X2 Hot Driver is longer, faster, more forgiving, with faster ball speeds & advanced adjustability. 2014 Golf Digest Hot List Gold Medal. In this installment, @DocHockCG explains to @HarryArnettCG how Callaway Golf R&D has made the new X2 Hot Driver with an even hotter, faster face that still falls within USGA. Irons Golf Clubs 2011 Reviews of Men's Sets. Your irons are the pistons of your golf engine. There’s no more important equipment in your golf bag.
DESCRIPTION FT-Hybrids feature Fusion Technology, the superior weight-shifting science used in the Fusion FT-3 Driver and Fusion Fairway Woods. By using multiple materials in clubhead construction, Callaway golf engineers have optimized perimeter weighting to creat a high Moment of Inertia for enhanced stability and forgiveness. The OptiFit System creates two Center of Gravity (CG) posistions- Draw & Neutral - for many lofts, providing golfers a configuration that best fits their swing type and shot shape. The end result is exceptional distance, performance, accuracy, and confidence. FT Hybrid Neutral Simply, the easiest clubs I’ve ever hit off the Tee or from the grass.
I use #’s1, 2, 3, & 4. Be cognizant of the fact that a hybrid has a different shaft angle than a fairway wood. If you make a fairway wood pass at the ball you’ll hit it left; setup like you’re hitting a five-iron and make a five-iron pass at the ball. This is a Golf Digest tip from Bryan Gathright, Oak Hills CC, San Antonio, TX. He’s a top 100 teacher.
Reason being, the shaft angle of a hybrid is like that of an iron and not like that of a fairway wood. Unlike, the Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 Tour Driver I use that sounds like a whiffle bat on impact, these hybrids have the sweetest auditory metallic ring I have ever heard. Be wise and get the proper shaft for your game. The Callaway ‘pre-owned’ web site offers a myriad of shafts so, do your homework and be honest to yourself regarding swing-speed. Happy golfing now. Forget the graphite shaft!! GET THE STEEL!!!
The club will feel 20X more solid with the steel. I am a big guy with a pretty strong grip. Getting the ball in the air with a 2 iron is difficult for me. I hit the Callaway X 5wood about 230 and my 3 iron 200-210.
Off the ground, the hybrid 2iron fits perfectly between them (215-225) and depending on what course I am playing will leave either the hybrid in or the 5 wood in. Off the tee I can get about 240-245 out of it, easily in the fairway.
The hybrid launches easily into the air.but not so high as to discourage hitting it into the wind. Dont try to force it.just let the club do the work. Got it free with the Fusion FT3 driver:). Forget the graphite shaft!!

Dont try to force it.just let the club do the work. Got it free with the Fusion FT3 driver:). What a horrible club. I can buy clubs at a steep discount because I work at a golf club.

We got in some Callaway hybrids a few days ago and we didn't have any samples. I was impressed with the looks of the 14 degree and without hitting it purchased it right off the rack.
Callaway X Hot 2 Driver Review Golf Digestion
I was confident that such a solid playing club would do the trick. I've been playing a Titleist 690MB 2-iron for several years and I just got tired of hearing how stupid I was to still be playing such an antique. I hit the 690 really well, but was convinced by others that I would hit a hybrid much better. What a total joke.
As is always the case with Callaway graphite clubs the shaft is too whippy for me. I can't hit the planet with this club. How anyone could think this type of club is superior is beyond me. I look down at the 690 and see plenty of loft. I look down at this horror show of a club and it looks like a blob. It's not an iron and it's not a fairway wood. IT IS JUST A BLOB.
