Make sure to use a fresh install if you have used any modifications with the old version. : I really think it’s a matter of priority/focus.Viper Racing was a new game engine in 1998 but it still supports two simultaneous controllers. As it was meant to be a sim.As do all the rest of the sims (RBR, GTR2, rfactor, etc.).But this wasn’t a focus for NFS Shift. But that’s fine, it’s a great non-sim game as far as I’m concerned. It plays well for what it is.Better than GRID IMO.

Hi, I drive iracing, gtr2, rfactor, gt5, etc I think this is a sim. With a mix of feelings but yes it’s a sim. Patch has improved everything and now we have not a beta 🙂 REgards, B. : Such a shame FFB on the G25 will work only properly with it’s own pedals. My CST pedals are fixed in my cocpit, so im not going to put the old plastic pedals back just to play this.

The biggest reason I replaced my Acts-Labs pedal and DFP wheel set up, with the G25. Was that very dual controller issue. It frustrated me for years; not letting many (driving simulators) to work. (not to be confused with a full racing simulator), of which there is none. Including the likes of iRacing, RaceON, etc etc.

Which are missing many of the elements of a racing simulator. I wouldn’t encourage any one to rely on dual controllers.

It isn’t a priority for developers who make a living at this; because so few have dual controllers. As the engine is optimized in the future it maybe added. : Does this patch annul the changes made by the Real Mod? I mean, I’m halfway through the game and I really enjoy my 10 lap races and how the car handles. But I’d like to fix the issues, so, if I install this patch will have to (and even so, can I) install the Real Mod again? Or will my current settings stay?

Anyone tried it yet? Thanks You can only install the patch on a non-modified, non-unpacked game. So you cannot have RealMod installed and apply this patch.

Re-install the game (or, if running an unpacked game, remove the unpacked folders and rename the Backuppakfiles folder again to Pakfiles), then apply the patch. You can then unpack the game again and apply your mods again, or apply mods to the packed game, whatever you prefer.

Patch works great here, Crossfire support took some twiddling but I’m now running smooth solid 60 FPS on all tracks which was most important for me. Car handling is very different now, no more extreme oversteer so no need anymore for RealMod 🙂. Hi Redi, Do you know how to upgrade the patch with the Steam-version. I tried yesterday, but it didnt install. Kina: You can only install the patch on a non-modified, non-unpacked game. Still lots to explore and test but the improvement in framerate with my ATI card is staggering! At the back of a full grid my frame-rate has doubled. When driving alone the boost is a more modest but still very welcome 20% increase. Thank you SMS! Initially I got no change in fps.

Then I realised my shortcut went to a re-named exe file – grid.exe. I’d left an exe named shift.exe and this had been patched but until I re-directed my shortcut I wasn’t using it. I just mention this in case someone else has tried the re-naming trick and forgotten. Might as well leave my consensus here as well.

I was one of the users who gave Shift a fair chance but in the end put it down thanks to appalling FFB, jerky performance and gameplay. With patch 2, the excessive oversteer mechanic has been dumbed down noticeably, performance is smoother keeping 60fps more of the time, but everything else is essentially the same including the FFB. There is still a large dead zone in FFB that moves about during cornering due to the feel of the body weight. It is unnatural and I still don’t like it. Overall forces on my G25 are still very consistent and un-dynamic with medium grip forces being dialled out in the fine degree between going straight and slightly turning before a tidal wave of back pressure is felt as the weight shifts. There is still no effect of light steering during understeer. Note: This is including using stock G25 and custom configs with correct GripFactor settings amongst others.

The muscle cars don’t give an extra grief in their handling and the experience of lugging around a huge big block over a light rear axle remains unchallenging to a Historic GT rFactor enthusiast; allowing ridiculous manoeuvres with little consequence. I don’t intend that as criticism by any means, all I mean to say is the DLC doesn’t infringe or overhaul on the already established easy to drive physics of Shift. If anybody out there thought SMS wanted to up the ante with this patch, it isn’t a holy grail and didn’t say it was. Small input lag remains across all input devices and gear select delays still exist if using a H-shifter. What I am most surprised about still is that they didn’t think to eradicate the language select screen or the smorgasbord of confirmation screens after startup. 😐 Yet I half-heartedly drag myself back to Shift for a few more months gameplay maybe, as the patch seems to have relinquished interest regardless of it’s benefits I feel.
