I could not prepare myself though I tried for how gigantic this thing is, but it's awesome. My five year old had wanted it since he saw it at while shopping during Christmas and his birthday is in January so we told him we would get it then if he still wanted it. Needless to say, he still wanted it and was fully expecting it. We are not parents that buy lots of toys and we actually try to keep a very small amount of toys in our house so us getting this was a very big deal.
My son loved it and what's also precious is he wanted to assemble it with his dad on his birthday so that was a special time and it wasn't hard to do. My kids play with it everyday and there's enough cool things to do that they don't have to play together to play either. Of course their favorite is the shark track. I find it not too loud and it has to be pushed in certain areas for the sound and lights to go off. While it is made of plastic, we've already had the neighborhood kids over that have walked on parts of it and thankfully nothing has broken so far! We enjoy it very much.
Like I said, be prepared for it to take up A LOT of room. The Ultimate Garage is made of plastic, takes up a lot of space, and we wish it had a volume button. That being said, everyone, including the adults, play with it and love it. The 2 car racing ramp is the most fun. There is also a super fun spiral to drive cars into the shark bite.
My son loves that he can drive his car into the garage, close the door and hear it being worked on, drive into the gas station and here the old fashioned 'ding ding' for gas. The helicopter pad has landing sounds and cool lights. The fire station makes an emergency siren sound for his fire trucks. Can fit 36 cars in the garage slots. Has lifts to drive cars on to and elevate them up to parking level.
Seems sturdy enough to last through his childhood. Plenty of places to add new pieces to it. Great bday or xmas gift! This really is an amazing Hot Wheels Garage!! I helped my nephew put everything together and I have to say it took us less than 45 minutes.

Adult assembly really is required since the pieces made things a bit confusing but that isn't too much of an issue since it is a tall garage. On the bright side it comes in a frustration free packaging box! Now lets move forward and talk about the garage itself! One of my favorite things to begin with is the fact that its sturdy! Before receiving this garage I honestly felt that it would not be sturdy enough and that the plastic would feel somewhat cheap, but boy was I wrong!
I love how all the features work! It does require batteries for the lights and sounds, although in my experience I thought thesounds were a bit too loud, I was able to hear it clear from the other end of the house. But it is a good toy, my favorite feature has to be the stunt shark! Overall I loved this Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage and so did my nephew! Many hours of fun were spent! This is quite a big set as the name 'Ultimate' suggest. Let me first talk about assembling this set. At first i was overwhelmed by the number of pieces and quite few pages of instructions.
I took me, my 5 years old son and 8 year daughter almost one hour to assemble it. At first it looks little hard, but soon you get the hang of the sets. All the pieces snap easily and the big picture on the packaging box helped me a lot. The tracks are snapped together with a joining clip and make sure it snap well to have a smooth track. This set takes a lot of space, so make sure you have enough space to enjoy this. The cars roll smoothly on the track.
Once you put batteries, the car vrooming sound is pretty amazing, but the best sound is helicopter sound. You would feel a trill when you hear it. Once the set it built together, me and my kids loved it and played for quite some time. The eating shark is pretty awesome and i wish the shark made some sound too.
The elevator takes the cars up and down. The car wash area does not do anything and seems unnecessary extension. Overall a nice set which can keep your kids busy for quite sometime. I received this product at a discounted price in return for my unbiased review.
